Frequently Asked Questions

How often are you able to walk my dog or Pop in to see my pet

I am happy to provide services as and when you require, assuming I have diary availability. This can be from once per day or once per week up to multiple visits each week.

Can I book at short notice?

Yes, so long as we have carried out an initial consultation I am happy for you to get in touch to request a walk or a visit and I will do my best to accommodate you.

What security measures do you have?

Your key will be kept secure and away from personal information and no key can be identified to any property. In the event of your key being lost or stolen we will advise you immediately.

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured to cover for:

  • Dog walking – max 4 dogs walked at any one time
  • Dogs being exercised off lead if owners written consent given
  • Pop in Pet Visits
  • Collection and delivery of your Dog

Do I need to be home when you pick up my dog or come to care for my pet?

Most clients are comfortable sharing a set of keys with me to enable me to enter your home or collect and drop off your dog when you are not home. I am fully DBS checked, which is not a legal requirement, but I want you to be comfortable with me having the keys to your house.

What do I do if I need to cancel a walk or Pop in?

Please contact me by email or telephone giving at least 24 hours’ notice for a dog walk, otherwise charges will apply. For a booked Pet Pop -in Visit please ensure 7 days notice is given .

What do you do in case of an emergency?

In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will immediately call and notify you. In the original consultation, I ensure that I have all the emergency contact details. If veterinary assistance is needed, I will take your pet to your named vet or, depending on the circumstances, to the nearest possible one.

Do you feed treats to the dogs on your walks?

I will only treat your dog if you have given permission to do so and you approve of the treats I use or give me a selection of your preferred treats. I will treat the dogs only when necessary in order to reward them for recall or obeying a command that I have given them at the time.

Do you walk dogs off the lead?

I will only let your dog off the lead once I have got to know the dog and have written consent to do so.  If your dog is not so good on their recall I prefer to keep them on a long lead and let them run and play in safety.

Do you arrange picking up and dropping off for walking dogs?

I collect your dog from your home/place of work at an agreed time and then return them after their walk.  For group walks you may need to fit into the schedule for collecting and dropping off dogs which means your dog will be out longer than 30minutes or 1 hour.

Do you take bitches coming into or in season?

Unfortunately, we are unable to take bitches coming into or in season on our group walks, but I will endeavour to arrange an individual walk in these circumstances

We’ve just got a puppy and we both work, what services do you provide for a puppy?

Puppies usually have to go out every 2-3 hours. I will come to your house during the day and let the puppy out, feed and interact with the puppy at agreed times.  I will also be able to introduce them to socialise with other dogs, once they have received their vaccinations.

What happens in bad weather?

We get wet. I will clean and dry your dog off as much as possible. In extreme weather the normal walk may not be suitable, but we will do our best to make sure your dog gets out for a walk even if it is for a shorter time than normal. We will let you know if we have not managed the planned walk.

Can you administer my pet’s medication?

I am happy to administer medication for your pet(s), in accordance with your written instructions.

How do I pay?

The easiest way to pay is via bank transfer as there is no charge for this and it is convenient. You can also pay by cheque or Cash. All payment details are included on the invoice which will be emailed on a Friday, and we can discuss payment arrangement at our first meeting.

Does my dog need to wear a collar and tag?

Yes, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 requires that most dogs wear a collar and a tag or disc showing the name and address of the owner. Please note that from 6th April 2016, all dogs must be microchipped and registered on an approved database.
